A Celebration Of

Hi everyone,
welcome to the 'A Celebration of..' blog, about the series of events we are putting on at Shoreditch Church focusing on albums of particular artists we feel deserve greater attention. We will be playing back selected albums in the excellent acoustics and setting of the Church. The listening space is as important as the music! First series is on the german krautrock band 'Popol Vuh' to celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2010. Press release below. Please give us your comments and feedback etc

A Celebration of.. is a series of events produced by indepedent record label Sonic360 (www.sonic360.com), each series focusing on a chosen legendary recording artist and their body of work.

A hand-picked selection of albums from the artist’s catalogue will be played over a series of weekly sessions, 2 albums per night, at the magical 200 year old structure of Shoreditch Church, London. Artists and titles are chosen on their suitability to the Church’s wonderful acoustics and ambience. The album playbacks will be accompanied by candle lighting to result in a completely awe-inspiring experience.

The first series of sessions will be A Celebration of Popol Vuh, the German ‘Krautrock’ group which was founded by Florian Fricke along with Holger Trulzsch (percussion) and Frank Fiedler (electronics). 2010 marks the 40th anniversary of the group’s formation. Their music incorporates both electronic and acoustic instrumentation inspired by ethnic and religious music and evokes a deeply spiritual and introspective response in the listener, a dream-like soundscape perfectly suited to the Church environment. We believe the music will truly come alive in this setting.
